Propane heaters use HD-5 grade propane (90%+ propane, ≤5% propylene) marked “LP” on regulators. Connect via hose/regulator assembly; leak-test with soapy water before igniting. 20-lb tanks (4.7 gal liquid) are standard for mushroom-style patio heaters covering 200 sq ft at 40K BTU output.

Turn off at tank valve when done; store tanks upright outdoors. Refill when gauge shows 20% capacity. Piezo igniters eliminate matches; wind guards extend burner life in breezy conditions.
